PostaDVD Game Rental Review |
 |
 |
 |
PostaDVD has finally gone out of business in 2009--frankly we're surprised they stayed afloat for so long. This review is kept as it was for posterity.
ostaDVD, as the name implies, are another company that specialise in DVD rental-by-post, but also offer a limited number of game rental titles, in this case for 97 titles for PS2 and and 35 for XBox. This is odd, as when we checked their inventory a year earlier, they had 200 total, now down to 130 or so. Clearly games was an experiment which PostaDVD does not want to continue, so we certainly don't advise signing up with them unless you want to play old games.
As with all the DVD rental companies that are listed here, who also offer games titles, we don't recommend them for the hardcore gamer as the selection is very limited.
There are a few little extras that PostaDVD offer to make themselves stand out, including loyalty points and vouchers for reviewing films.
However, the site is very tailored toward the DVD rentals and finding the film you want can be a bit of a challenge as there is no separate search engine for games and there are no genres to browse for games. We feel there are a few better companies out there for a games/movies combo package - see our Games & Movies comparison table for these.
Prices: PostaDVD are very competitively priced for a games/movie rental package with one game/movie for £9.75, two for £11.75 and £13.75 for three at-a-time (all with unlimited monthly rentals)

Rui from Northfield , January 24, 2007
Signed-up with PostaDVD on the 10th of January 2007, under their Free Trial offer of 14 Days, received my 1st XBOX game after a couple of days, which I returned the very next day, as it wasn't to my liking. On the 16th I emailed them to inquire as to why my account still showed my 1st game, as being out, and got no reply, but it was marked as received on the 17th, and still no replacement sent. On the 18th, as no replacement had yet been sent, I canceled my membership, and received confirmation via email, today, on the 24th, I received an email to advise me of a charge to my card, for 13.75, for PostaDVD. I had to cancel my card, as it was the only way the bank could prevent the charge from being successful. These clowns do not respond to their emails, which is the only contact details they provide.

Cancelled my free trial in October after I'd only received 2 DVDs instead of the 3 I was supposed to. Was debited 13.75 this month, the same again last month (but was recredited to my account the same day) and 13.75 in October. Only an email address to contact them on to which I have had no replies. Unfortunately my bank (The Woolwich) can't help me get the money back and have told me the only way I can stop this is to cancel my debit card.
